Is it necessary to install air cushions from a campervan?
The title of this article is rather perverse. Airbags are not compulsory equipment for a motorhome, but... Well, that's the 'but' we'll focus on today.
The greatest charm of travelling in a house on wheels is freedom! We drive ahead where our eyes carry us and stop where we are enthralled by the phenomenal natural surroundings. This is not always at a fully equipped and suitable camping site. What's more, it is usually a "wilderness" site. If you are a fan of this type of travel, raise your hand. We are the first to sign up! :) And if it's a wild camping trip, the surface is not perfectly even. And here I will let you in on a secret - it doesn't have to be :)
Equipped with air suspension, the campervan copes perfectly with bumps, up to 10cm! That's quite a lot and you can see the difference with the naked eye or feel it with your bare feet in the shower :) Levelling the car even by these few centimetres makes a dramatic difference when stopping or travelling and makes our home on wheels much more comfortable. Namely.
Firstly, the cup with our favourite coffee does not slip off the countertop. An egg doesn't escape while we're making scrambled eggs for breakfast. We can prepare the meal comfortably, without any slop.
Secondly, when having a shower, the water flows perfectly in the shower tray. And later, when emptying the dirt tank, it is easy to level the car in such a way as to get rid of the whole thing.
Thirdly, we will not roll out of bed. Sleeping comfort is of unimaginable importance. Even a few centimetres of unevenness can spoil the comfort of sleep.
Fourthly, uneven load distribution in the Camper is standard. The rear hangs, the left or right side hangs more. And with air cushions it doesn't hang anymore :D Because the cushions are the perfect support for a heavy load and don't allow the rear to drop. Just look at these pictures.
Fifthly, do you hear that 'ringing' in the camper van while driving? Well that's right...., and users of air suspensions don't hear it :) They don't hear because nothing rings for them. The cushions perfectly nullify unwanted ringing or creaking. The car stays firmly and securely on the road.
Sixthly, reckless driving on two wheels when going through a roundabout will not happen again. Unless you try very, very hard ;) However, you will find it really hard with air suspension. With the cushions, you will notice a significant drop in sensitivity to crosswinds and roll.
Seventhly, you no longer have to hold on to your seats as you drive onto a gravel road. The cushioning, improved handling and smoother ride on uneven surfaces are all thanks to the air suspension. We even cruise along forest roads :D
Eighth, what more is there to say - it's simply much more comfortable and safer with us!
